Judey Kamora, an ELU Cabinet member, credits her involvement with Emerging Leaders United (ELU) for preparing her for various leadership roles in the community. “ELU has provided leadership training and networking opportunities that have enhanced my ability to organize and lead community service projects effectively,” she shares. Her passion for serving others has led her to actively seek out volunteer opportunities, gradually taking on more responsibilities within each organization. She encourages other ELU members interested in expanding their community involvement to “start by identifying causes you are passionate about and look for local organizations or events that align with those interests.” For Judey, community involvement is not only about giving back but also about building connections and contributing to positive change. “It’s fulfilling to see the impact that even small actions can have on individuals and the community as a whole,” she reflects.
In addition to her work with ELU, Judey volunteers at her church, participating in outreach programs and mission trips to support communities in need. She also helps with Community Table in Birdsboro, which provides meals and support to those in need, and volunteers with OneLuv in Reading, an organization focused on community engagement and supporting underserved populations. Judey became connected to these organizations through personal interest and recommendations from friends and community members. “My church provided the opportunity for mission trips, and I learned about Community Table and OneLuv through local events and word-of-mouth,” she explains.
As a community leader, Judey emphasizes that leadership is about serving others and making a difference, no matter the size of the contribution. She believes that every act of involvement counts, stating, “It’s a rewarding experience that builds skills, fosters relationships, and strengthens the community.”
